What’s green, crunchy and pointless?
As an August baby, I’m personally offended that one of the “fruit and veggies of the month” is…
Celery.
Really?!
Why would anyone want to celebrate a food that tastes like wet bark? C’mon, people, we can do better!

Do you want to know what doesn’t taste like wet bark, though?
(And if you like celery, we can still be Internet friends. Let’s plan on bringing different snacks to the table, though, eh? 😉)
Sweet words of encouragement – and sometimes a kick in the pants – from mentors and teachers.
Since school is back in session for so many of us, I thought we could take a moment to celebrate our educators by remembering game-changing conversations… 🙌

It’s funny how a simple comment like, “You’re a great writer!” or “Wow, you’re a dynamic speaker” can be so empowering… and potentially change the direction of your life. 🤯
- Maybe you pursued the sciences because a teacher noticed how you understood complex subjects.
- Or perhaps a mentor pointed out how you’re great with kids, so now you’re around kids (by choice) most of the time.
- Or you chose that really creative career path because an instructor saw that you have what it takes.
Personally, little 8-year-old me felt like a total boss when my dog class instructor observed that “you’re so patient with Ranger” (my cow dog, because obviously). Especially since I was so small and inexperienced with a 30-year-plus age gap between my peers and me. It made me want to BE a more patient person as a learner and teacher of dogs or humans.
So, what’s a favorite conversation or comment you’ve had with a teacher? Jot it down for a rainy day or even hit reply with your story.
And… I’m off to enjoy an un-celery tainted spoonful of peanut butter. Yum.
Reader, live intentionally with passion and purpose as God’s beloved!
