Let’s daydream a bit, you down?
Hey there Beloved,
Right around the time this is sliding into your inbox, my family is hitting “pause” on #allthethings to celebrate a milestone.
Quite frankly, I struggle hardcore at times with not immediately jumping ahead mentally to the next thing. (Calling all my fellow iNtuitives who can relate!)
But hitting pause – whether it’s a weekly Sabbath (I highly recommend it), periodically, or annually, it’s so life-giving to reflect, celebrate, and daydream about Future You.
(And it doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to take off crazy long chunks of time to do it, either!)
Perhaps it’s not an anniversary time of year for you but I encourage you to give yourself permission to take a pause (mini, medium, or long – whatever works for you) to think about Past You – who you were and what you were doing around this time of year, and ask yourself any or all of these questions:
- PAST YOU: What filled my days at the time? What did I enjoy doing, not enjoy doing, and was neutral about doing?
- PAST YOU: How would I describe myself then? Who would I have wanted to become?
- PRESENT YOU: What’s filling my days now? What am I enjoying, not enjoying, or am neutral about doing?
- PRESENT YOU: How would I describe myself now? Who do I want to become?
- FUTURE YOU: What steps or shifts can I make to become more of the person I want to become? Who can support you in becoming more like the person you want to become?
I know – it looks like a lot of questions, but taking the time to reflect on them is worth it.
(Heck, you can totally decide to focus on thinking about Past You for one thought session, Present You for another, and wrap up with Future You another time. Don’t overcomplicate this and be kind to yourself.)
Personally?
While I’ve got SO MUCH learning and growing to do (hello, fellow humans!), most of the time I’m proud of the person I’m becoming.
Leaning into what it means to personally be God’s beloved, looking at my personality/roles as a gift from God, and striving to live intentionally have genuinely made it way more fun to be me more often than not (because #life and we live in a fallen world). Of course, investing in relationships that support you in becoming the best version of yourself makes a huge difference, too! (Special shout-out to amazing spouses, supportive family, and rich friendships!)
Ttake a few minutes (or more if you want) and think about those questions. If you want, hit reply with what comes to mind. I’m celebrating with you how far you’ve come. You’ve probably made SO MUCH more progress than you’ve realized and celebrate every step.

P.S. Who do you want to become? Hit reply. I can hardly wait to hear from you!

I’m Cortney, a recovering over-achiever and God’s beloved who loves helping fellow Christian women like you embrace your God-given gifts so you have the confidence to live authentically.
I’m also a full-time mama to two sweet little boys, wife to my best friend, motivational speaker, and part-time Christian life coach. Chai lattes, strong coffee, podcasts, yoga, dance, and fairy tales nourish my soul and add sweetness to life.
Discovering the joy of embracing my God-given gifts and who He created me to be was a game-changer—a journey that brought freedom, unexpected delights, and relief from guilt. Finally, I felt free to be myself and ditch the pressure of being someone I wasn’t.
Incorporating those gifts into my day—from weekly planning to deciding on commitments, nurturing my marriage, and parenting—transformed everything. Now, I can’t imagine life without the perspective of fully embracing who God created me to be. I was missing so much without it!
