Enjoy the December Lately List!
For the past few months, my husband and I have been working through the YouVersion CCV: the Bible in ONE Year plan. Each day’s reading includes a passage from the Old Testament, a Psalm/Proverb (also from the OT), and a passage from the New Testament. Some day’s readings are a rather dense (6 chapters!), but it also has two day breaks built in. If you want to read the whole Bible in a year, I recommend it!
After a couple AMAZING podcasts on Biblical literacy, I’ve decided to take a deeper dive into Scripture using the Abide Method (resource by Risen Motherhood).
This method involves a deep dive study into one book of the Bible using a few key principles:
I’m currently studying the book of Philippians.
Note: The tool provided (above) encourages printing off the book you’re studying and marking it up.
That’s a great idea. I’m just cheap (and out of ink), so I’ve been using a Google doc instead.
The perks I’ve found of using a Google doc:
Re-reading this book multiple times and digging into definitions and commentaries has made the book even more interesting than before!
The Five Minute Mom Podcast: Episode 215- Loving God’s Word Again with Tara-Leigh Cobble
Risen Motherhood Podcast: Ep. 178 || Don’t Take My Word for It with Jen Wilkin
As I’ve shared recently, independent play (IP) is a daily part of our life.
One of my absolute favorite parts of the day is reconnecting with Little Man after some IP, and seeing several books spread out in various states of read-ness.
It’s like he’s gearing up for a college exam by cross-comparing literature.
And, that, my dears, is one of the many reasons I find myself thinking, “You’re my child!”
Like Little Man, I enjoy reading multiple books simultaneously. Here’s the latest ones:
Kingdom on Fire series by Jessica Clueess
A strong female lead, sorcerers, magicians, witches, fighting for a cause – it sucked me in! I lost a lot of sleep staying up too late reading this series…
Hidden Potential by Wendy Pope
As the description puts it, “Fears. Faults. Failures. Frailties. Every woman at some point wonders, Do I have to get past all my weaknesses before God can use me? ” No verdict yet.
Lois and Clark: The Adventures of Superman Every now and then I feel like retreating into childhood, so popping in these DVDs have been such a treat to have on in the background when I have time to myself. Even a newbie Star Wars fan like me can get into his series! It gets bonus points for having a realistic kid-like Baby Yoda… Bubble, Bubble Pop (baby-toddler appropriate) I’m pretty sure that the 100+ views have mostly been from my toddler and I. He’s a huge fan of this less than 2 minutes video! Do you also get jazzed about the future? I mean, thinking about the kind of person you want to be by the end of the following year is so DANG EXCITING. I’ll share more about this soon, but in the meantime, I’ve been joining in on A Purpose Driven Mom’s goal-setting workshop series. Cara incorporates reflection, vision boards, goal setting and routine establishing. So, so good! Since Little Man got his learning tower this summer, we’ve been making a lot of food together. By this, I mean, he grabs handfuls of the mixed food to taste or toss on the ground. We also yell together sometimes when the blender or food process is running. Seriously, add a little happy yelling to your cooking. It’s good for the lungs. Here’s some of our latest hits: So far, he’s only dumped a batter bowl on the floor once – win!
