Hi beloved,

Let’s take a hot minute and be honest with each other.

How are you doing? How are you really doing?

In full transparency, I’m feeling bittersweet.

Love story snapshot

My sweet, strong grandpa passed away a couple years ago. I keep thinking about his bear hugs, his huge grin, and his utter silliness. Most of all, I keep thinking about how deeply he loved my grandmother.

In particular, I remember chatting with him on the phone as a college girl. He was sharing about how my grandma was away on her periodic girls getaway with her closest high school friends. (#goals, right?!) Papa was glad she was having a great time, but he could hardly wait until she was home again because he missed her so much.

Beloved, they’d been together for 50-something years and he was counting down the days until his sweetheart was back in his arms. Cue heart eyes!

For you that may not be swoon-worthy. That’s cool.

For me, though, that’s been the gold standard – commitment + treasuring your spouse.

… What about others?

I’d argue that you could also extend this idea to the other relationships in your life.

Prior to having my son, one of the best pieces of advice I picked up in a book about raising boys was this: “Enjoy your boy.”

Talk about painfully obvious, amiright?

But… how easy it to NOT simply enjoy your people?

To forget about the simple treasure you have right in front of you and just enjoy the fact that they’re in your life?

Challenge: Enjoy your people

So, here’s my spur-of-the-moment challenge for you: In the coming days, just take a moment to enjoy the people in your life.

Her smile. His crinkled nose. Their laughter. Their differentness from you – it’s a gift! (We’ll dig even more into personality next year!)

Whatever it is about them – consciously choose to enjoy your people.

Your turn…

And I’d love to hear from you: what’s something you ENJOY about your person or your people?

Let’s bring on the good vibes!
