2022 10-day live video challenge

Sharing is caring!

Public speaking. Being filmed.

Which camp do you fall into when those words come your ways?

  1. Yikes! Count me out. Could I just NOT present (like ever)? Because that’d be great…OR
  2. Ah… yeah. Let’s do this! OR even…
  3. Maybe…? What do I need to talk about?

Personally, I’m more in camps 2 and 3. I actually enjoy public speaking, but need a darn good reason to get up there and do it.

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how I’m feeling about it at the time), I chose to focus on Courage this year.

When I saw the opportunity to join Helen Martin’s 10-day Online Crew Video Challenge, I jumped on it.

Because going live makes me nervous.

Because I actually enjoy public speaking but often psych myself out from doing it.

Because sometimes doing something you’re scared of can be super empowering.

If you’re not on social media, you can follow along here. I’ll do my best to post the video links here each day.

And if case you forgot, you can live intentionally with passion and purpose as God’s beloved.

Day 1: I’m choosing courage this month… How about you?

Raise your hand if you like to set focus words or phrases for the year!

I chose Courage – and totally forgot about it halfway into the year. But when I saw the opportunity to join Helen Martin’s 10-Day Online Crew Video Challenge popped up, I jumped on it.

In this video, I share a few ways I’ve chosen courage throughout the year – and what’s ahead for the next few videos.

Day 1: I'm choosing courage this month... How about you?

Day 2: Feeling like a rockstar and anti-rockstar moves (enter worry, anxiety and overwhelm)

Hello, there beloved!

Today I’m sharing about bike rides + stalker (there’s got to be a better word for this) Bible verses + big ideas about how you might be making life harder on yourself + how to fight back against worrying.

I definitely don’t have it all figured out, but I hope knowing you’re not alone is helpful.

When was the last time you felt like a rockstar?

Day 2: Feeling like a rockstar and anti-rockstar moves (enter worry, anxiety and overwhelm)

A few of the verses that have been “stalking” me and you might need them, too!

  • Matthew 6:34 Refuse to worry about tomorrow but deal with each challenge that comes your way, one day at a time. Tomorrow will take care of itself.
  • Psalm 46:10 NASB Cease striving and know that I am God.
  • Galatians 3:3 Your new life began when the Holy Spirit gave you new birth. Why then would you so foolishly turn from living in the Spirit by trying to finish by your own works?
  • Peter 5:7 Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you.

Day 3: You get to decide what’s enough for you right now, and other such things

I’m baaack with more mindset + practical ideas about living intentionally. Today I’m sharing a few tips on how you can have more grace and less guilt during this magical, overwhelming season. They include: starting an enough list, adding “right now” to the good and the bad in your life, what your role is REALLY about, setting your priorities for the holidays, and remembering that Whose you are defines who you are (and it’s really good!).

By the way, I use these tactics imperfectly and am preaching to myself here. 😉

Day 4: What lights you up?

It’s FriYay (#PunLove) and time to tackle today’s topic for the day: telling your story. Like any good over-achiever, I’ve been overthinking it and thought you might relate.

Perhaps “telling your story” isn’t as complicated as we tend to make it. It’s really just sharing about one of your many experiences – especially the ones that light you up. Because those, beloved, are super fun. 😉

Day 5: Random acts of kindness + taking a Sabbath

Being intentionally kind (an area I can definitely grow in) + skipping a day to take a Sabbath (Dude, if you don’t do this, consider it. So life-giving!)

Day 6: What’s a game-changing book you’ve read recently?

Another confession: I’m a bibliophile and was stoked to learn that one of the challenges for the video challenge was to share about an impactful book.

The real challenge? Choosing a book to highlight out of so many good ones. I’ll have to do this again!

If you’re also want to live intentionally with passion and purpose as God’s beloved, add Made for This: 40 Days to Living Your Purpose by Jennie Allen to your reading list.

Find it on Goodreads here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/43597137-made-for-this.

Comment with a book you love!

Day 7: Getting to know you… because you’re awesome.

Isn’t that one of the most fun (and terrifying) questions? Personality tests, journal prompts, and conversation starters are so addictive for a reason.

But… sometimes you may not really want to get to know yourself. After all, some parts of you may seem kind of cruddy!

In today’s live, I’ll be sharing about one of my absolute favorite personality models and help you loosely type yourself along the way.

Let the personality geeking out begin!

Day 8: When you know Whose You are + Who you are = you can be more effective with your life

An over-achiever? Hard-on-yourself? A wee bit overwhelmed by #allthethings on your plate?

Let’s talk.

Day 9: Creative slumps… time to play

What do you do when you’re in a creative slump?

(Really, creative slumps don’t necessarily have to mean that you’re creating a work of art, writing a book, or crafting something cute. Creativity is so much more than that!)

Pop in for some low-key stretching, a little pep talk about how play is actually important for you, and just knowing that you’re not alone.

Day 10: Lessons learned from going live for 10 days, my commitment to you

…especially from the perspective of a recovering over-achiever – learning to go with the flow and not over-think it!

Cortney Loui, coffee on patio

I’m Cortney, a recovering over-achiever and God’s beloved who loves helping fellow Christian women like you embrace your God-given gifts so you have the confidence to live authentically.

I’m also a full-time mama to two sweet little boys, wife to my best friend, motivational speaker, and part-time Christian life coach. Chai lattes, strong coffee, podcasts, yoga, dance, and fairy tales nourish my soul and add sweetness to life.

Discovering the joy of embracing my God-given gifts and who He created me to be was a game-changer—a journey that brought freedom, unexpected delights, and relief from guilt. Finally, I felt free to be myself and ditch the pressure of being someone I wasn’t.

Incorporating those gifts into my day—from weekly planning to deciding on commitments, nurturing my marriage, and parenting—transformed everything. Now, I can’t imagine life without the perspective of fully embracing who God created me to be. I was missing so much without it!
