Let’s get real – getting coaching can be scary and nerve-wracking
Earlier this year, I had a “lightbulb moment” during a free impromptu coaching session, beloved Reader, that I’ve been itching to share with you.
… especially since I’m now offering free short Christian life coaching calls to Tribe Beloved, I wanted to share some of my own experiences and fears with coaching. Sign up if you’re interested!

Ready for the lightbulb moment? Let’s dive in.
It happened during a virtual entrepreneurship training series, which featured a mishmash of pre-recorded trainings and daily live group Zoom discussions.
Since one of my top priorities is being present and less distracted with my son (hollah to SAHMs!), I gave myself a guilt-free pass to just focus on the pre-recorded trainings.
… yet opportunity came knocking.
One afternoon, I had a surprise opening and could attend the day’s live session without distractions.
I wavered back and forth between focusing on my to-do list or showing up.
Do I seize the opportunity to connect or hunker down into my to-do list? What if I get put in the hot seat? Yikes!
“Play” is my focus for 2023, so I decided, “What the heck – let’s try it.”
… and whaddyaknow – taking that little step of bravery (I was nervous, Reader!) to personally connect with and learn from an expert (and intimidated…) – was exactly what I needed.
While I could get into the nitty-gritty of the conversation, I keep coming back to these insanely impactful phrases during the session (see in bold):
- You seem like a relator. How can you connect with your people more?
- Have you ever thought about… coaching?
- Imagine the ripple effect if you used your particular passion to serve. Who would be impacted? Who would miss out if you didn’t use it?
The thing is – I already knew a lot of these things about myself.
Yet I’d been busily downplaying one of them and flat-out rejecting the other as impossibilities and forgotten dreams.
But this random coaching conversation with a woman across the world gave me the kick in the pants I needed to see myself and my goals in a whole new way.
It’s helped me:
- Reinvigorate forgotten dreams
- Discover newfound energy and joy
- Lean more into my God-gifted personality and passions
And I know this is only the beginning of my journey.
… which brings me right back to you, beloved.
Perhaps you feel like you “ought to have it all together” but something’s missing.
Or you might feel nervous about connecting with someone outside your Inner Circle for a different perspective. What if they think you’re a loser? What if I feel worse after talking with them?
… and I want you to know that I get it. Heck, I struggle with them, too!
But what if a “random yet intentional” chat with someone outside your Inner Circle is just what you need to see yourself in a new light? To discover newfound energy and joy?
I’d love to help you do just that by helping you become the best version of yourself so you can ive intentionally with passion and purpose as God’s beloved.

I’m Cortney, a recovering over-achiever and God’s beloved who loves helping fellow Christian women like you embrace your God-given gifts so you have the confidence to live authentically.
I’m also a full-time mama to two sweet little boys, wife to my best friend, motivational speaker, and part-time Christian life coach. Chai lattes, strong coffee, podcasts, yoga, dance, and fairy tales nourish my soul and add sweetness to life.
Discovering the joy of embracing my God-given gifts and who He created me to be was a game-changer—a journey that brought freedom, unexpected delights, and relief from guilt. Finally, I felt free to be myself and ditch the pressure of being someone I wasn’t.
Incorporating those gifts into my day—from weekly planning to deciding on commitments, nurturing my marriage, and parenting—transformed everything. Now, I can’t imagine life without the perspective of fully embracing who God created me to be. I was missing so much without it!
