Something you really ought to know

Hey there Beloved,

Lately, I’ve been thinking about what I’d most want to (really, need to) share with you if we were chatting over a cup of coffee together.

(Or tea, Dr. Pepper, whatever your beverage of choice. Let’s not overthink this and focus more on why the heck we’re chatting in the first place.)

But first, my conscience won’t be at peace if I don’t put this out there:

I don’t have it all figured out and am still very much a masterpiece in progress (Ephesians 2:10). In fact, I don’t want you to ever walk away from my emails thinking, “Gosh, she’s got it all together and knows how to do life ‘right.’”

Because I don’t. And, most of the time, I’m okay with that.

(Really, as long as you’re walking in alignment with God and trying to be more like Him, I don’t think there’s truly a “right” way to organize and spend your life. You with me?)

… which brings me back to you, Lindsay.

→ It’s okay to not “have it all figured out.”

→ It’s okay to realize that you have a lot more to learn.

In fact, I’d argue it’s a ginormous gift from God that you CAN keep learning, growing, and becoming the incredible human being He’s created you to be.

Let’s pull up Proverbs for reference:

Wise men and women are always learning, always listening for fresh insights
Proverbs 18:15 MSG

We’re probably pretty similar – we WANT to have it all figured out.

Just recently, while in a tiff with my son, I wondered, “Why can’t I just figure out mothering? Why does it always seem like I have more to learn?”

It hit me practically in the same breath – learning is my jam.

If I didn’t have something new to learn – another way to grow, it’d be like sucking all the air out of the room.

Quite frankly, if I didn’t have room to grow, I’d probably be bored and bitter… neither of which would actually contribute to me becoming the best version of myself as God’s beloved.

Cue a giant sigh of relief

So… right now, if we were sitting down in our favorite spot chatting about life, I’d want to look you in the eye and bursting with enthusiasm (it’s my default setting) say to you:

“It’s okay to not have it all figured out, Beloved. It’s okay to be imperfect. You are a masterpiece in progress and it’s glorious to see you grow and shine!”

It’s your turn. How do you feel after reading those words?

Feel free to hit reply with what comes to mind!

Beloved, live intentionally with passion and purpose as God’s beloved!
